Our first cross platform game!
« on: April 07, 2010, 12:41:44 pm »

Woohoo! our first cross-platform game is released: Mini Plane is now available on Android AND iPhone !
I'm still thinking about doing a little J2ME version as side project, just to get it on as many platforms as possible Tongue

Check it out: http://orangepixel.net/miniplane  and fly your little airplane into the online highscores Wink

Very neat! Congratz.

I especially like the cross-platform part. That's groovy.
You definitely should do a J2ME version too, and possible a Flash/Flex version.  Cool

But it needs music!    (I'll have you converted some day).

I would also have liked some more dynamics, but that's the thing with touchscreens.  Undecided Very limited controls in my opinion. I think that's actually the main reason I still prefer J2ME...  Embarrassed

Good luck with the sales!

problem with a J2ME version is the portrait-screen mode on most phones Sad

It should minimum have a title-tune as well, and an ingame tune would be groovy too. Smiley

So rotate the graphics and code. You're Orange Pixel aren't ya? Quit whining. Smiley

What good will rotating the code do? It will only make it harder to read...  Cheesy
( You gave me that one Lou, I just had to comment on it )

Not if you rotate the phone. Wink (which is the general idea)

And of course I don't mean the actual code dummy. I mean the graphics coordinates in the code. Tongue

I know what you mean, it just sounded funny according the way you formulated it!
Still I'm picturing any IDE and you coding your next game with the Java code rotated 90deg around the axis.
Could result in some serious neck-injury..   Cheesy.

You're probably right.

However, the Nokia's does auto-rotate, so a J2ME version would work fine on those without coding any rotation stuff...

I'm not sure, but I think that all S60 Symbian phones does that. The older S40 ones doesn't afaik.
My Nokia N82 does, and N95 does too. Haven't tried any newer Nokia's though, but it would be strange if they suddenly stopped.
